Having been asked this frequently, I usually give the pc answers, the ones you read everywhere. But there are others. Remember how it felt to be good at school, way too good at figuring out what the teacher wanted? Or just a little too plump, a little too bookish, a little too nerdy (before anyone used the word)? I like writing YA because it makes you a small target. And I like publishing online because it makes you an even smaller one.
